Position: Video & Lighting Technician
Performing Arts Department
Core Responsibilities:
- Act as a coach, role model and mentor in the
participants’ learning.
- Maintain a safe and respectful multicultural learning
environment.
- Be adaptable and flexible in a fast paced, constantly
changing environment.
- Develop and foster a community amongst the group that
allows for a
- transformative
experience for participants and community members.
- Attend to participant needs, counseling and feedback.
- With all staff facilitators, ensure the successful
implementation of the entire
- Up with People
program by participating in a variety of program
components.
Specialized Responsibilities:
- Manage all
Audio/Visual (AV) and lighting requirements of the Up with
People Show.

Manage
relationships with local vendors for rented AV and lighting
equipment.

Manage all power
requirements for AV and lighting equipment, including
working with local electricians on power hook-ups in each
city.

As appropriate,
coordinate with Up with People office staff, Local
Organizing Committee and Regional Directors the technical
rider for each community and ensure AV and lighting
requirements are met for each show.

Work closely with
the Sound Technician as well as the Administrative
Coordinator on the management, trouble shooting, inventory,
security and transportation of all road equipment.

With the Sound
Technician, oversee, participate in and teach the cast how
to set up and strike show equipment ensuring a safe and
professional environment at all times.

Perform minor
maintenance on Up with People owned AV and lighting
equipment.

Create artistically
pleasing show(s) in each city, dependent upon local
needs:

More than one show
may be required in each city, in more than one
venue.

Working with the
Performing Arts team, edit and produce videos in each city
that
highlight aspects of the cast’s visit.

In collaboration
with the Performing Arts team ensure the overall success of
the Up with People Show, including logistics, technical
requirements, community involvement and creative
production.

In collaboration
with the Performing Arts team help to plan/run workshops,
rehearsals and review performances.

Nurture and inspire
creative potential of all participants and educate them in
the area of the arts through the Up with People Performing
Arts Curriculum.

Participate in
Advance Team training as needed.

Guide/Coach interns
throughout the semester; coaching them in their learning
goals,
facilitating mid-point check-ins and evaluations as well as
final evaluations.

Work with, guide,
mentor and share responsibilities with the Performing Arts
team.
